I’ve been working with a few people who have been having trouble with their email subscription service providers lately, so I thought I’d share this post I like on the Wysija blog comparing five subscription options. Included on their list are Jetpack, the service I’m currently using, and Feedburner, the service I used to recommend and have started moving clients away from. This post is a little more than a year old, so all of the options they’re comparing have evolved some since this was published, but I still think it’s valuable, and I hope you’ll agree. Here’s an excerpt, and you can click the link below it to read the full article.
We love when our websites send automatically a daily or weekly newsletter with our latest posts. It’s more common to see post notifications than newsletters written manually in the WordPress community.
Post notifications has several names depending on who’s talking about it:
- Email subscription to post updates
- Email alerts
- Post notifications
- Automatic newsletter, or auto newsletters
I personally always called them “email alerts” because Lorelle said so a few years ago. Most of my past clients just used the term “automatic newsletter“, which makes a lot of sense, if you ask me.
Five plugins / services for email subscription reviewed:
