Google Analytics is a free service that allows you to track the traffic and engagement on your blog or website. In order to use it, you’ll need to sign up for an Analytics account at analytics.google.com, then install a plugin on your WordPress site that will connect with your Analytics account and start sending data from your site to Google Analytics.
In the past, I’ve used the “Ultimate Google Analytics” plugin, but today I switched to “Google Analytics for WordPress” by Joost de Valk. The signup process for Google Analytics is pretty straightforward, so I’m not going to break it down today. (If you try it and feel like this was an oversight on my part, please let me know in the comments, and I’ll rectify that in a future post.) I will, however, share these handy videos from Joost de Valk about using his plugin.
Happy data tracking!
